Parantap slams ton, Karnataka in command
Mysuru: After being dismissed for 273 in their first essay, hosts Karnataka fought back against Saurashtra on Day 2 of the quarterfinals of the Cooch Behar Trophy U-19 tournament here on Sunday. At stumps, Saurashtra were 197/7 in 63 overs.
Earlier, Karnataka, resuming on 202/6, battled on with skipper Yashovardhan Parantap completing his century (114, 274b, 10x4, 3x6). Hardik Raj (66), who started his day on 44, completed his half-century. For Saurashtra, Tirthkajsinh Jadeja returned four for 98, while Maurya Ghoghari claimed three wickets.
In reply, Saurashtra lost early wickets as they were reduced to 40/4 by the 15th over before Manav Chothani (80) and Karnav Rathod (34) took the fight to the opposition with their 111-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Dhruv Prabhakar (2/39) broke the partnership, dismissing Chothani and further dented the opposition claiming the wicket of Rathod. At close of play, Mann Bhatt was holding fort with an unbeaten 27.
