PATNA: The newly appointed director general of police (DGP) Rajwinder Singh Bhatti on Monday took over charge of his office from outgoing officer S K Singhal at the police headquarters here.
In his maiden address to the state’s senior police officers who had gathered at the police headquarters to accord a grand farewell to Singhal on his retirement, Bhatti said he would make all possible efforts to maintain law and order and put an effective check on the incidents of crimes. “I am ready to face whatever challenges will come in the way of policing,” he said.
The outgoing DGP Singhal, in his address, welcomed his successor Bhatti and thanked all senior police officers for their cooperation during his stint as the state police chief.
The ADGP (headquarters) Jitendra Singh Gangwar welcomed Bhatti at the police headquarters by offering him ‘angvashtram’ and handing over a flower bouquet.
Earlier in the day, Singhal while talking to media persons, rejected the senior BJP leader Tarkishore Prasad’s allegation that the spurious liquor which claimed scores of lives in Saran district was made with the spirits seized by the district police.
While terming Prasad’s allegation as ‘baseless’, Singhal said a probe is underway into the hooch tragedy, and anyone found involved in the preparation, sale or distribution of spurious liquor would face strict action.
