MVD calls tenders for command control centre
Thiruvananthapuram: The motor vehicles department (MVD) has invited tenders to set up a centralised command and control centre at its head office. The transport commissioner had earlier furnished a proposal for setting up of a command control centre (CCC) for an estimated amount of Rs 5 crore to establish a single and centralized monitor system at the head office for real-time monitoring of all activities, live-feed from all camera surveillance systems and integration with district enforcement control rooms, state enforcement control room, master control room of VLT platform for effective coordination and control.
The departmental working group meeting held in August considered the proposal and decided to accord administrative sanction for Rs 3.74 crore. As per an order issued recently, the government has examined the matter in detail and accorded administrative sanction for setting up of a command control centre for an amount of Rs 3.74 crore.
A standard operating procedure shall also be formulated regarding the working of the command control room. The move is part of intensifying the drive against traffic violations and to ensure prompt action against the offenders.
The CCC would have a network of computer systems, which would enable collection of feeds from enforcement cameras/CCTVs and other devices and would have the capacity to store, analyse and disseminate it. As per the tender document, the CCC would be equipped with video wall, where live feeds would be received continuously with flexibility to focus on a particular feed. It would also have the facility of GIS to know the exact location to a source from where the data is coming to the command centre.
