VADODARA: It was a nostalgic trip down memory lane when about 40 mechanical engineers from the class of 1992 trooped into Kalabhavan campus, almost after three decades, for the 30th graduation anniversary celebration on Sunday.
Alumni of the MS University's department of mechanical engineering converged for a get-together cherishing, sharing fond memories of their student years with former and current teachers and staff members.
The engineers sat inside the same classrooms where they spent four years of their student life as undergrads. The event was jointly organized by the department and the office of alumni affairs and donors relations of MSU for which, alumni from across the country and even overseas including the United States reached the city.
Among them was East Windsor NJ-based Ram Ramachandran, currently associate vice president with Infosys and head of sales (Americas) for the chemicals, agriculture, mining and utilities industries. While some have turned into entrepreneurs, others are holding prominent positions in their respective firms.
As part of their commitment to help their alma mater, these alumni have decided to contribute towards upgrading the infrastructure in classrooms of the department by putting up 72 new benches, installing 40 ceiling fans, providing three projectors and 60 chairs for ME classrooms, carrying out repairs to doors and windows of BE classrooms, installing grills on windows and providing shed for sitting area of students in the department.
The work will not only be funded by them but they will also monitor it in coordination with the department. The facilities were dedicated for the current students of the department on Sunday.
