Modi to open Energy Week 2023 in K’taka
Haveri: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India Energy Week-2023 to be celebrated in Karnataka in February next year, said chief minister Basavaraj Bommai.
After inaugurating the 3000 KLPD Ethanol and Sugar factory of VINP Distilleries and Sugars Private Limited in Konanakeri village in Shiggaon taluk of Haveri district on Sunday, the CM said around 10,000 delegates from both India and abroad will attend this event, which will discuss energy production and policies. There is a high demand for ethanol factories, and the government is offering a subsidy of 6 per cent interest and 95 per cent financial assistance, he said. “The government will give permission to start the factories as it will help in the betterment of farmers, jobs for the local people and revenue for the government,” CM Bommai added.
Bommai also predicted that biofuel will be in high demand in the next 50 years. The industries owned by minister Murgesh Nirani have been the largest manufacturers of sugar, alcohol and ethanol, besides generating 400 MW of power. Minister Shivaram Hebbar has been asked to take care of farmers' welfare and to provide employment to the youths of this region. This will provide direct employment to around 500 persons and indirect jobs to 2,000 to 3,000 people," the CM said.
The Union parliamentary, mines and coal minister Pralhad Joshi said the Union government had been encouraging ethanol production across the nation.
