Biker hit by garbage truck dies in Chennai

CHENNAI: A 23-year-old man died in a road accident at Egmore on Sunday after a Chennai corporation garbage truck ran over him. The man died on the spot.
According to the Chintadripet Traffic Investigation Wing (TIW) police, the man was identified as Sadhik Basha of North Chennai. On Sunday morning, as he was driving his motorbike near the police hospital at Egmore, a Chennai corporation garbage truck knocked him down.
Before he could get up, the truck ran over him, killing him then and there. The passers-by caught hold of the truck driver and informed the police.
Chintadripet TIW police rushed to the spot and recovered the body which was sent to a government hospital for postmortem.
Police said that the man died despite wearing a helmet. A case of causing death due to negligence has been registered.
