Addressing the 37th national convention of the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Uttar Pradesh occupies number one spot in domestic tourism. He further stated that tourist movement in Ayodhya is likely to increase 10 fold after the completion of Ram Temple in 2024.

He emphasised on the scope of religious tourism in the state saying that Kashi (Varanasi) used to draw 10 million tourists in a year. But this year 10 million tourists landed in the city in the Hindu holy month of Shravan (mid-July to mid-August) alone. This increase can be attributed to the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor which has completed one year of its opening.

Sensing the success of religious tourism, efforts are on to complete Ramayan, Krishna and Buddha circuits, he said adding that 30,000 crore projects in Ayodhya and 25,000 crore to 30,000 crore projects are underway in Mathura.

The Chief Minister also drew attention to eco-tourism opportunities in the Terai region of the state, Vindhyachal and Bundelkhand and assured tour operators support from the state government.
He released a coffee table book on Bundelkhand during the occasion which was also graced by Ministers Arun Kumar Saxena and Daya Shanker Singh, principal secretary (Tourism) Mukesh Meshram and large number of tour operators.
