Mangaluru: A man was reportedly thrashed after being tied to a pole for allegedly following a minor girl on his bike and misbehaving with her. The incident was reported at Mulki police station limits on Saturday.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said following a complaint by the parents of the minor girl, the police have booked a case under various sections of the Pocso Act against the accused and arrested him. Police have also registered a complaint of assault with rioting against those who allegedly assaulted the man. In this connection, three people have been arrested.
It is learnt that the arrested man had reportedly misbehaved with a minor girl, by following her on his two-wheeler on December 13. After the girl informed her parents of the same, her father and two others followed the girl. When they found the man at the same spot where he had allegedly misbehaved with her, they thrashed him and when he tried to escape they tied him to a pole. His shirt was torn in the incident, sources said.
Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that the man and the girl were not known to each other. As part of the investigation, police are checking call data records and CCTV footage.
16-year-old electrocutedA class-10 student was reportedly electrocuted at Ambatamule under Puttur rural police station limits on Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Ranjith A, 16. Police said when the victim was cutting grass along with his mother, one Somasundar reportedly approached them saying that the power supply had been affected. He asked Ranjith to accompany him. Around 5.30 pm, Ranjith’s mother was informed that her son had suffered an electric shock near a transformer. A case has been registered.
