Bokaro: With the arrival of winter, picnic spots here are abuzz with people.
“We meet each other, prepare food and enjoy in the jungles, dams and beautiful spots. The picnic season begins around mid of December and continues till January,” said Rinki Kumar, a resident of Chas, who has come for a picnic at City Park.
The district boasts of beautiful places such as City Park, Garga Dam, cooling pond, Jawaharlal Nehru Biological Park and others. Besides, Gomia infamous as Maoist dominated belt, also have around half a dozen beautiful spots such as Tenughat Dam, Konar River, Charchariya Nala, Luggu Hill and others.
Garga Dam, Konar Dam and Tenughat Dam are the three most preferred tourist spots in the district. Thousands of revellers visit these spots.
With more crowds visiting these areas, police are keeping strict vigil.
“We will request state tourism department to develop Tenughat Dam as a tourist paradise of Jharkhand,” said Lambodar Mahto, Gomia MLA.
The scene at Konar Riverside was also similar with a huge number of people enjoying their time in the sun. Madhu Devi, a resident of IEL Colony of Gomia, said that they prefer to stay back at their area since it has a number of beautiful places.
The Luggu Hill which hosts holy place of Santhals Luggu Buru Ghantavadi Doramgaad is also a favourite tourist destination.
Visiting the most sacred place of Santhals is one of a unique ways to begin new year. The area also provides opportunity for hiking,” said Chaita Kumar, a resident of Lalpania.
