PRAYAGRAJ: The
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership in a bid to woo eligible voters ahead of urban civic body polls will organise a series of ‘street plays’ at prominent city crossings and intersections to apprise masses about the welfare schemes being run by the Central and state governments and its impact. The party also plans to organise beneficiaries meets (labharthi sammelan) ahead of urban body polls.
Party’s spokesman Rajesh Kesarwani told TOI: “Party has prepared a list of prominent crossing and intersections where street plays will be organised after December 19.
The motive to organise street plays – Nukkar Nataks – is to apprise people about the welfare schemes being run by the BJP governments for the people.” The street plays would highlight how recipients benefited from welfare schemes and what changes\impact it brought in their lives.
Kesarwani added “Tolis (groups) of BJP youth workers are distributing a four-page pamphlet titled ‘double engine ki bhajapa sarkar ke prayas se smart hote shahar’, to apprise the voters about the development works and projects being taken up under Smart City mission in the past five years in different cities including Prayargaj.” Apart from discussing welfare schemes, party workers are also apprising eligible voters, particularly women and youngsters, about facilities being offered by the government under Smart City mission, including sewage system, solid waste management, sanitation, easy transportation, parking, street lights, information technology, connectivity, digitization, e-governance and clean and green environment.
Besides, the workers were also narrating series of works undertaken for the benefit of urban population, including new township, green corridors, convention centres, Asra Yojana, one city-one operator plan, e-nagar services, online facilities of birth and death registration, kanha gaushala etc.
Senior BJP leader Ashish Gupta said: “Party leadership is leaving no stone unturned to reach out to every voter ahead of urban civic body polls and for that tolis are being assigned to visit their respective wards. The objective is to connect with voters at grassroots level and apprise them about achievements, development projects and welfare schemes.” The BJP is also set to hold a key voters’ convention after inducting them into party fold. Key voters are those who can influence voters’ minds in respective booths in all 100 wards of the city.
A crucial meeting of party leaders will be held on December 19 to chalk out elaborate poll plan and discuss strategy for all 100 booths and booth structure and management. Party leadership is also working on specific strategy for each ward in terms of social equations, highest number of voters of particular community\caste as well as weakness and strongholds. The BJP is targeting all community vote banks that have traditionally not been BJP supporters. Micromanagement at booth level is being worked out, apart from mobilisation of voters at several levels.
