Hubballi: The state skill development department has geared up to organise a mega job fair called ‘Sarvarigu Udyoga; Udyoga Mela’ across the state. The programme was launched last year and has received a good response across the state. However, for the first time the department will organise a job fair in Dharwad district.
The department will hold the job fair at JSS College, Dharwad on December 18. More than 80 companies will take part in the job fair and registration for candidates has already started. More than 2,000 students have registered so far.
‘Sarvarigu Udyoga’ was launched by chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on December 23, 2021. However, it has been extended for this year too.
A total of 12,559 students had registered for the job fair on the department’s website till December 15. Sarvarigu Udyoga mela has already been successfully conducted In Belagavi, Dakshina Kannada, Koppal, Mandya, Mysuru, Shivamogga, Udupi and Bengaluru urban districts.
Dharwad district skill development officer Dr Chandrappa told Sunday Times of India, “We are expecting 4,000 students to participate in the job fair. As many as 6,000 jobs will be filled by many private companies. About 80 different companies will participate in the fair. The registration process is going on. The students of the district should take the benefit of the job fair. Deputy commissioner Gurudatt Hegde will inaugurate the job fair.”
