GURUGRAM: A 39-year-old private firm employee cleaning the windshield of his car for better visibility during fog fell to his death from a flyover in Rewari after being hit by a vehicle on Friday night.
Police said the accident took place on Masani flyover on Dharuhera-Rewari road around 11.30pm, when Amit Bharadwaj was returning home from office in Bhiwadi. Bharadwaj was a resident of Shakti Nagar in Rewari.
“On Friday night, he was returning home in his car. He stopped the vehicle by the flyover and stepped out to answer nature’s call. He then started cleaning the windshield of his car since it was quite foggy. A speeding vehicle hit him and he was flung in the air. He landed on the road below the flyover,” said Sunder Lal of Dharuhera police station, the investigating officer.
Passersby informed police about a car lying abandoned on the flyover with its ignition still on. On the road below, a few villagers saw Bhardwaj’s body and approached the cops. A police team rushed to the spot and took Bhardwaj to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.
“We have initiated an investigation to find out how the accident took place. It appears to be an accident, but we will probe all angles. We have conducted an autopsy and handed the body to his family,” Sunder Lal said.
An FIR under sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304A (causing death by negligence) was registered at Dharuhera police station.
