Yangtse in Arunachal is 'fully secure': Kiren Rijiju slams Rahul Gandhi, Congress

NEW DELHI: Law minister and Arunachal West MP Kiren Rijiju took to social media on Saturday to slam Rahul Gandhi's remarks on China border issue, saying the Congress member is "not only insulting the Indian Army but damaging India's image".
Stating that Rahul has become a huge embarrassment not only for Congress but for the country, the minister said that Yangtse area in Tawang, part of his Arunachal West constituency where clashes took place between Indian and Chinese soldiers earlier this month, is "fully secure" due to adequate deployment of the Indian Army.
Rijiju tweeted a video clip showing youths from Tawang criticising Rahul for his 'insulting' remarks against jawans. The Congress MP had said that Chinese soldiers had thrashed Indian jawans.
"Rahul is not only insulting the Indian Army but damaging the nation's image. He is not only a problem for the Congress party but he has also become a huge embarrassment to the country. We are proud of our armed forces," Rijiju said.
The minister also tweeted pictures of the under construction Sela tunnel from his last visit to the Sela Pass area and said the tunnel will provide an all-weather double lane connectivity from Guwahati to the border areas in Tawang along the LAC. The tunnel is in the final stage of construction, he said.
On the strong Indian defence in the region, the minister had earlier said India has equally matched infrastructure in the region with what China has developed, particularly along the borders. He made a mention of the newly-built Donyi Polo airport at Itanagar, which is the third operational airport in Arunachal Pradesh and 16th in the Northeast region.
