HYDERABAD: A couple in a live-in relationship were arrested by cyber crime wing of Rachakonda police on Saturday for alleged matrimonial fraud.
Rachakonda police in a press note said that the accused P Tanusri and
Ravi Teja who are residents Krishna district of AP. This couple decided to create a profile on her in different social media accounts and to upload her photos.
By posting attractive photos and after getting decent number of followers, the accused used to send them messages. After coming in contact, she used to propose for marriage. The complainant, who was one of the many victims, agreed to her proposal. Since she had already gained confidence of the victim, she started to ask him for money citing different reasons like ill-health,
EMI,
COVID and others.
From the complainant, she collected ₹31 lakhs before he realised that it was a fake marriage. After nabbing the accused based on the bank accounts, the duo admitted that they cheated several others in the past.
