SURAT: Jewellery manufacturing is likely to get a major push with two jewellery exhibitions taking place at the same time in the city. Along with Sparkle 2022, another exhibition, Rootz, is also taking place. Rootz, organised at Sarsana by Surat Jewellery Manufacturers Association (SJMA), is open only for Business to Business clients while Sparkle, organised by Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), is open for retail buyers as well. Sparkle is focussing on bridal jewellery, while Rootz will help SJMA establish the city’s identity as a jewellery manufacturing hub.
“It is the second edition of Rootz and we are focusing only on jewellers from across India. This exhibition will help the jewellery manufacturers to establish their identity and contacts,” said Jayanti Savaliya, president SJMA.
A total of 180 jewellery manufacturers are participating in Rootz and nearly 8,000 visitors are likely to visit the exhibition from Friday to Monday. The exhibition is organised with the concept of sustainability by removing paper or plastic from the event. No paper is used for registration or other purposes while single-use plastic has also been avoided. No plastic water bottle or other products will be used at the exhibition.
Sparkle, which is focusing on bridal jewellery, was inaugurated in the presence of 100 women entrepreneurs. The women entrepreneurs were felicitated by the guests at the event. SGCCI officials announced that next year Sparkle will take place in August.
