PRAYAGRAJ: A play titled Anuttarit Prashn, organised by The Third Bell Repertory, was enacted at the auditorium of North Central Zone Cultural Center (NCZCC), on Friday night.
The play was organised under the collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India.
The play was a theatrical presentation showcasing the condition of women in different time periods, from the present to the once mentioned in the epic of Mahabharat and the story of king Dushyant and her queen Shakuntala.
The play, written by Vinay Tripathi and conceptualised and directed by senior director Alok Nair, tried to establish inter-relationship between the characters of the present day.
The agony that women had to face in ancient times, the same pain is reflected in today's time too. The play keeps the unanswered question of women on the one hand, while on the other hand it ends with a hope.
It showed how a present day girl, Priya is tormented by the objectionable comments of anti-social elements of today’s world and how princess Amba (from the period of Mahabharata) explains to her the same agony that she had to suffer during her time period. Amba also narrates the story of Shakuntala who was disowned by her husband, King Dushyant.
The main characters on the stage included Niharika Panchi Patel in the character of Priya, Ritika Awasthi as woman / Amba and Smita Dikshit as Shakuntala. The songs of the play were composed by Ritu Srivastava, music was by Shubhashish Majumdar and were sung by Sandhya Sarman and Mauli. Kalpana Sahay and Vineet Pandey were the chief guests on this occasion.
