HYDERABAD: Bhuvanagiri Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Friday, hinted that he would possibly contest from Nalgonda in next assembly elections, not necessarily as a Congress candidate.
"I will take a decision a month before elections are to be held. I will decide whether I contest for the Lok Sabha or for the assembly. I will make up my mind on which party I will choose at that time. Until then, I will not speak politics," Venkat Reddy said in response to queries from mediapersons. However, he said, he did not discuss politics with the Prime Minister and added that he discussed only matters and issues pertaining to his Lok Sabha constituency in particular and the state in general. "I broached several issues with him and I am hopeful and confident they will be resolved as he has assured to look into them," Venkat Reddy told reporters after a 20-minute meeting with the Prime Minister Modi.
To persistent queries from reporters, Venkat Reddy said he did discuss some confidential matters with the Prime Minister which he would not reveal. "The Prime Minister was kind to give me an appointment within three days of asking. He also responded positively and said he would form a committee on the matters I have asked about which include cleaning up of Musi river," Venkat Reddy said.
He said the polluted Musi was affecting Hyderabad, Medak, Nalgonda and Rangareddy districts. The MP said he had specifically asked the PM for extending the MMTS from Ghatkesar to Jangaon district. He said the railway ministry sanctioned extension of MMTS phase II from Ghatkesar to Raigir (at Yadadri) in 2016-17 itself at a cost of Rs 412 crore. Two-thirds of the project cost was to be shared by Telangana.
