HYDERABAD: Excise sleuths have seized a huge quantity of suspected spurious liquor worth over ₹1 crore from different places in Hayathn-agar and Choutuppal in the last few days. Two persons have been apprehended for supplying low priced liquor of two particular brands to belt shops in Ibrahimpatnam and Hayathnagar.
The samples of the seized liquor have been sent to excise lab for analysis. Excise sleuths are tightlipped about the ongoing probe.
Acting on specific information, excise sleuths raided illegal store houses in
Srinagar Colony and Peddamberpet areas of Hayathnagar and Choutuppal. Sources said that a liquor businessman from Chotuppal is suspected to be involved in the illegal business. Excise officials have sent the samples to the lab to determine if it is spurious liquor or illegally brought from other states to evade excise duty.
