Mysuru: Three leopard cubs were found inside a sugarcane field in T Narasipura taluk where foresters are conducting search for a leopard that has mauled two students recently.
K Kamala, deputy conservator of forests (territorial), said following a complaint by villagers of B Seehalli, the taluk forest team visited the village and found three cubs. The cubs are newborn and may be around a week or two old. The cubs have been kept at the same place but inside a cage. We will wait for the mother to return and a team has been stationed in the village. The cubs are healthy, she said.
Meanwhile, the operation to catch the elusive leopard at Ukkalagere hillock in T Narasipura is still under way. A specially designed cage, sourced from the forest department in Tumakuru, has been placed to trap the big cat, which has remained elusive for more than one—half months. On October 31, the leopard had fatally mauled a 21-year-old student who, along with his friends, had visited the shrine atop Ukkalagere.
