HYDERABAD: A day after inaugurating the national party office in Delhi, BRS president and Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has now shifted his focus on holding public meetings in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra as he plans to extend BRS party's footprint across the country.
While BRS is planning to contest elections in these states, the party's, in all likelihood, first pitstop will be in AP where it will organise a rally on or before Sankranti festival in January.
The harvest festival is a major festival in AP and KCR is already in touch with some of his old friends from TDP and are in political hibernation in the residuary Telugu state, sources said.
"A couple of sites near Jakkampudi have already been identified to set up the BRS party office. Animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav is likely to be sent to AP to pursue BRS electoral agenda.
Talasani was in TDP in the undivided state before he joined TRS after formation of Telangana state. He has good friends in the neighbouring state. He will go on a two-day tour to AP once KCR gives the green signal," said a senior BRS leader.
KCR is reported to have discussed with JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy on the possibility of contesting 2023 assembly elections in Karnataka and 2024 Lok Sabha polls in alliance with JD(S) in constituencies where Telugu population is heavily concentrated. He also spent more than one hour with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav discussing plans on stitching up an alliance of like-minded parties at the national level.
Sources said KCR is keen on gaining traction with farmers, dalits, tribals, BCs and other weaker sections across the country as he believes their votes will be crucial for his party's rise in national arena.
Sources said KCR will soon announce a separate agenda for these sections of the community. His slogan 'ab ki baar kisan sarkaar' for 2024 general elections is primarily at capturing these sections' votes, sources said.
Meanwhile, a large number of farmers and their association leaders from AP, Karnataka, Maharashtra, TN, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and other states met KCR in Delhi on Thursday.
Leaders of various associations, including high court bar association, advocates, Munnuru Kapu Sangham and members of various other community associations also met KCR in Delhi and extended their support to BRS.
