Jaipur: On the 100th day of the Bharat Jodo Yatra,
Rahul Gandhi will address a press conference in Jaipur on Friday at the new PCC office at Hospital Road at 4 PM . It will be followed by a musical concert at Albert Hall in the evening by noted Bollywood playback singer Sunidhi Chauhan.
Congress communications department head Jairam Ramesh said Rahul Gandhi will stay in Jaipur on Friday night. However, he will reach Dausa by helicopter on Saturday morning as scheduled for the yatra. He said on Friday there will be only the morning shift and yatris would cover 23 kilometre at one stretch.
Hath se Hath Jodo campaign from Jan 26: Congress communications chief and former minister Jairam Ramesh on Thursday said the Congress will launch a Hath se Hath Jodo campaign in continuation of the Bharat Jodo Yatra from January 26 as a follow-up programme for two months.
He said the purpose of the yatra is to energise the Congress workers and strengthen the party organisation.
“Bharat Jodo Yatra is not an event but a process. It would be followed by so many other programmes,” he said while addressing a press conference.
Replying to a question on yatra giving electoral dividends he said can’t claim it would guarantee any electoral benefits as it depends on so many factors like strong organization, unity, and discipline in the party.
Sportsmen join yatra: A number of Rajasthan-based Olympians and international medal winners joined Rahul Gandhi in Bharat Jodo Yatra. Players included Commonwealth Gold medalist and Olympian Krishna Poonia, Olympian shooter Divyansh Singh Parmar; Asian Gold medalist and Olympian Bhupinder Singh, Olympian race walker Sapana Poonia, Olympian Archer Shyam Lal, Olympian Archer Dhulchand Damor, Asian Gold medalist Sumitra, South Asian Gold medalist Kachnar Chaudhary, Dronacharya awardee athletics coach and former international hammer thrower Virender Poonia, Dronacharya awardee coach Heeranand Kataria and the world record holder in Yoga, Yogi Ramras Ramsnehi.
