Ludhiana: In order to further strengthen the healthcare services for the people of the state, cabinet minister Lal Chand Kataruchaksaid at a press meet that 38 new Aam Aadmi clinics would be inaugurated in Ludhiana on Republic Day on January 26.
The existing primary health centres (urban and rural) will be upgraded as Aam Aadmi clinics and tenders for civil and other works have already been floated by executive agencies. To ensure fast-paced completion, the administration has appointed separate agencies including PWD, Mandi Board, Glada, PHSC, LIT and others, and deadlines have been given to them, as well.
In Ludhiana, seven clinics are being set up in the Dakha constituency, five each in Atam Nagar and Gill, three each in Jagraon, Payal, Raikot and Khanna, two each in Ludhiana West, North and Samrala, and one each in Ludhiana South, East and Sahnewal constituencies, informed a statement.
Accompanied by MLAs Sarvjit Kaur Manuke, Daljit Singh Grewal, Madan Lal Bagga, Ashok Parashar Pappi, Rajinder Pal Kaur Chhina, Hardeep Singh Mundian, Kulwant Singh Sidhu and Jeewan Singh Sangowal, and senior AAP leader Dr K N S Kang, the cabinet minister, who also holds the portfolio of food, civil supplies, and consumer affairs, said that nearly 78,790 people had so far availed the benefit of the present nine clinics since August 15, and 12,145 medical tests were conducted there. He expressed satisfaction over the on-going work and asked the officials to ensure timely completion of other formalities of new clinics.
Meanwhile, the minister also directed the officials of food and civil supplies to expedite the re-verification of smart ration cards and ensure transparent completion. He also warned them to ensure every eligible beneficiary must benefit from the foodgrain distribution scheme.
Kataruchak, who is also in-charge of the Ludhiana district, also reviewed the implementation of Buddha Dariya Rejuvenation Project, Smart City works, NHAI, education schemes, food supply and other welfare programmes. He also lauded the district administration for making sincere efforts to reduce the cases of stubble burning cases this year. He said that it was a matter of great pride for Ludhiana that it had recorded a 55% decrease in stubble burning cases.
Deputy commissioner Surabhi Malik, MC commissioner Shena Agarwal, commissioner of police (CP) Mandeep Singh Sidhu and others were also present at the meet.
