Buldhana villages threatening to join MP get new road
Nagpur: Soon after residents of four remote villages in Buldhana district raised a demand to be incorporated in neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, alleging that the Maharashtra government has failed to provide basic facilities, local MLA Sanjay Kute performed the ground breaking ceremony to build a road to the area.
The demand had been raised by residents of four villages, Dhingara, Ghomal 1, Ghomal 2, and Chalistapri. TOI had reported the news on December 9.
Sardar Awase, a resident of Dhingara, who had submitted a memorandum with the demand to secede to Madhya Pradesh, said Kute had performed ground breaking ceremony for the road at Dhingara village. “We have been assured that work on the road would begin at the earliest. It has been promised that other facilities would also be built in the next two months,” said Awase.
He said they will wait for two months or else again raise the demand to join Madhya Pradesh.
Their demands include water supply, a new school building, and even converting the three hamlets on forest land into revenue villages, he said. A power plant to run on waste now lying discarded would take some time, said Awase.
MLA Kute also assured the residents, who are mainly tribals, that they would be getting caste certificates needed for availing reservation benefits. A majority of the residents in the villages are from the Bhilala tribe. Madhya Pradesh is barely 10 to 15km from the area. Persons of the same tribe are getting certificates on the other side but not those in Maharashtra, alleged the villagers.
Lack of caste certificates was one of the major reasons they were demanding to join Madhya Pradesh. Awase said the MLA has assured that the cases would be taken up with the district administration and certificates will be issued at the earliest, claimed Awase.
Even as Kute could not be contacted, his staffers confirmed that he had gone to the village and performed the ground breaking ceremony.
