VASCO: Cracking a whip against two-wheeler riders, the Vasco police have confiscated two bikes and have booked 32 cases of violation of Motor Vehicle (MV) Act at New Vaddem and Mangor Hill.
Taking strong cognisance of the fatal mishaps, Vasco police have intensified the drive against two- and four-wheeler riders in its jurisdiction.
“We have noticed that the majority of the violations are in New Vaddem and Mangor Hill and those booked are for over speeding and riding two-wheelers without wearing helmets,” Vasco PI Kapil Nayak said.
On Wednesday, 24 were booked for various violations under the MV Act in New Vaddem and Mangor Hill areas, while on Thursday, eight cases were booked and two bikes were confiscated, Nayak said.
He urged the parents and guardians of students to not encourage them to drive or ride vehicles without having licences and without wearing helmets. “There is a provision where parents of minors involved in accidents can be booked,” he added.
