2 men fight with taxi driver, molest woman, held in Mumbai

MUMBAI: The police on Wednesday arrested two men who allegedly followed a taxi and fought with its driver, after it touched their bike. They duo even misbehaved with the woman sitting in the taxi, and outraged her modesty.
The complainant woman, a Dadar resident, works as a manager in a prominent business center in the city. The police said as per the complaint, the incident took place on the night of November 26. “The woman took a cab around 11 pm from Colaba and arrived at Lotus area in Worli around 11.45 pm. There she noticed two men following the taxi. The duo then asked the taxi driver to take the taxi to a side. Once the vehicle stopped, they started arguining with the taxi driver over touching their bike. They abused the taxi driver, and the woman, and also touched her,” said the police. After the incident the two accused fled, said an officer. Senior inspector Anil Koli said an FIR was registered on December 9. “We got the accused’s picture from CCTV. The woman identified the duo. We arrested them in Worli,” said Koli. Police constables Gulatkar and Kadam played key role, he said. The accused were booked for assault or criminal force to woman with an intent to outrage her modesty. They were produced before cout on Thursday and remanded to police custody for two days.
