Woman out on evening walk attacked with knife

Ludhiana: Out on an evening walk, a 45-year-old woman was attacked by an unidentified man with a knife in the posh Atam Nagar area on Wednesday evening.
The woman fought back and tried to snatch the knife from the accused, sustaining injuries in the process. The incident has been captured in CCTV cameras installed near the spot.
Police suspect that the attack was motivated by some rivalry.
The victim has been identified as Manju Gambhir, 45, a resident of Kartar Nagar. Model Town police lodged an FIR against the unidentified accused and initiated investigations.
Manju said that she was on an evening walk when a man approached her.
He tried to engage her in conversation, but she ignored him. Suddenly, she said that the accused pushed her to the ground and tried to stab her with a sharp-edged weapon, but she resisted, she said.
She tried to snatch the weapon from the accused. In the attempt she suffered injury on her hand also.
She raised an alarm following which the locals gathered at the spot and the accused escaped from the spot.
Thereafter, she informed the police.
Inspector Gurshinder Kaur, station house officer at police station Model Town, said that it is suspected that the accused had assaulted the woman following some rivalry, but the woman claimed that she doesn’t know the accused.
An FIR has been lodged against the man.
