Stock market update: Nifty IT index falls 1.33%

NEW DELHI: The Nifty IT index closed on a negative note on Friday.

Shares of Coforge(up 2.0 per cent) and LTIMindtree Ltd(up 0.12 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

On the other hand, Persistent Systems(down 3.29 per cent), MPhasis(down 2.51 per cent), Tata Consultancy(down 1.96 per cent), L&T Technology(down 1.5 per cent) and Wipro(down 1.38 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

The Nifty IT index closed 1.33 per cent down at 28702.2.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 145.9 points at 18269.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 461.22 points at 61337.81.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 5 ended in the green, while 44 closed in the red.

Shares of , , , IOB and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of FACT, , , and hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while , , , Coastal Corp(PP)and Sintex Inds. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
