Kanpur: A former village head and a close associate of BJP MLA from Chhibramau Archana Pandey, was allegedly beaten to death by the husband of the present village head and his aides in Kannauj district on Wednesday.
Police and PAC personnel have been deployed in the village in order to avoid any backlash.
The incident was the fallout of an issue wherein the former village head Arun Shakya had entered into an altercation with the present village head's husband, who was supervising boring related work at the Basic Government School. Arun had asked the village head's husband to get the boring related work done properly.
Apparently annoyed over this, the village head's husband and his aides on Wednesday held Arun hostage and attacked him severely. Arun sustained serious wounds and subsequently he was taken to the Talgram health centre from where he was referred to the district hospital where he died during treatment.
Superintendent of Police Kunwar Anupam Singh said an FIR has been lodged against nine people on the complaint of the family members of the deceased. "All the nine accused have been arrested," the SP added.
Local sources meanwhile informed that deceased Arun was a close confidante of BJP MLA from Chhibramau, Archana Pandey.
