Prime poramboke in Vagamon parcelled into plots for resale
Thiruvananthapuram: The state intelligence has— in a report to the government — flagged an unholy nexus between government officials and those engaged in real estate business to purchase government land, earmarked for giving pattayam to landless citizens, in Vagamon in violation of land laws. It highlights the need for a rethink on the government decision to liberalise the land assignment rules.
Specifically naming some Thiruvananthapuram-based government officials, the report — accessed by TOI — says they have clandestinely registered a charitable trust along with some businessmen to cover up the realty business. The land deal points towards a systematic and organised violation of laws in every step, right from obtaining pattayam for the vast extent of land to selling it in plots to government employees in individual capacity as well as in the trust's name.
