Ludhiana: More than 12 days after the incident, Haibowal police lodged an FIR on the complaint of a 74-year-old property advisor who was allegedly robbed of Rs 20,000 cash, two gold rings and a mobile phone at his office in Chander Nagar of Haibowal.
The complainant, Vidya Sagar of Haibowal Kalan, who is a property advisor in Chander Nagar, said that on December 2, at around 8:30pm, he was sitting in his office, when a motorcycle stopped outside and two masked men came towards his office. As the men had covered their faces, he suspected them of nefarious intent and rushed towards the main door to get out. However, he said that the accused pushed him inside.
The victim said that one of the assailants attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon, injuring his right hand. Thereafter, the accused snatched his two gold rings, his mobile phone and Rs 20,000 cash. He raised an alarm and the accused escaped. He said no one could hear his cries because of the noise from a wedding function being organised nearby. Vidya Sagar said, “After getting first aid, I reached the police station but the police only lodged a DDR. I asked them to file an FIR but they asked me to wait. Thereafter, on Wednesday, police called me and asked if I wanted to get an FIR lodged, then they registered a case.”
ASI Sukhwinder Singh, investigating officer from Haibowal police station said that the complainant was reluctant to get an FIR lodged and had asked for some time. On Wednesday, he came and asked to get a case registered on his complaint, after which police lodged an FIR under Section 379-B (snatching) of the IPC.
