Big-hearted Kuldeep gets his mojo back!
Will India enforce follow-on?
Fresh after overnight rest, India pacers will look to wrap up the Bangladesh innings early on Day 2. With just 2 wickets remaining, Bangladesh are still 71 runs away from avoiding the follow-on. Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Ebadot Hossain first task will be to get those 71 runs. But even if India manage to get the remaining two wickets quickly, KL Rahul and co. are not likely to enforce the follow-on and will come out to bat again. Keeping in mind the pitch deterioration factor and the three spinners in the team, India will be looking to bat again and set a mammoth task in front of Bangladesh in their fourth innings.
Mehidy - The last hope for hosts
Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who was the outstanding with the bat in the ODIs against India is still out there in the middle for the hosts, batting on 16. He has Ebadot Hossain (13) alongside him as the duo will first look to remove the 71-run deficit to avoid the follow-on.
Ashwin, Kuldeep rescue with the bat
Earlier, R Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav batted superbly down the order adding 87-run partnership for the 8th wicket. The duo led a strong fightback after India lost Shreyas Iyer (86) early in the day. While Ashwin scored 58, Kuldeep also contributed with a solid 40. Towards the end, lusty blows from Umesh Yadav and Siraj took India past 400.
India in command
Left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav (4/33) and pacer Mohammed Siraj (3/14) bowled superb spells on the second day as India took control of the first Test in Chattogram. At the close of play on Day 2, hosts Bangladesh found themselves reeling at 133 for 8 in reply to India's 404 in the first innings. Kuldeep and Siraj shared 7 wickets between them as a clueless Bangladesh looked completely out of sorts against the quality Indian attack.
