Lucknow airport asks passengers to reach 2-4 hours prior to departure
A total of six baggage scanners and nine door frame metal detectors have been installed in the security check-in area.
LUCKNOW: Taking cognizance of Delhi airport's Terminal 3 congestion and chaos due to the year-end rush, the Chaudhary Charan Singh International (CCSI) airport in Lucknow has asked passengers to arrive 2-4 hours prior to departures.
In December month, the CCSI airport is handling 128 flights, including domestic and international, along with 17,000 passengers footfall a day.
Speaking to TOI, the CCSI airport spokesperson said, "We have issued a travel advisory, requesting domestic bound flight passengers to report 2.5 hours early before the flight departure, and four hours for international flight passengers".
Both the airlines and the airport are using various means, including SMS and social media platforms, to alert passengers about the reporting time.
The spokesperson said, "To ease the passenger movement at the airport, we have started operating an additional entry gate into the terminal building. Dedicated teams have been deployed at the common-use self-service (CUSS) machine to assist and guide passengers for boarding passes and other necessary requirements".
"Dynamic planning of check-in counters has also been introduced, which means that a particular airline counter can be used for rival airline passengers. Further, with the increase in the number of passengers, the number of check-in baggage has too increased, and therefore we are operating a by-pass X-ray machine in addition to In-Line Baggage Handling System (ILBHS) for screening of additional baggage," he added.
A total of six baggage scanners and nine door frame metal detectors have been installed in the security check-in area. Further, aerobridges are being used for 40 flights per day.
