Varanasi: On the second day of their stay in the holy city, people from rural belts of
Tamil Nadu who reached here in the 11th and second last batch to take part in Kashi Tamil Sangamam, experienced the spirituality of Kashi on Wednesday.
The day for the delegates started with a visit to the
Ganga banks early in the morning. They took a dip in the Ganga at the Hanuman Ghat, while enjoying the morning chill under the warm sunshine. During their stay at Hanuman Ghat, they learned how people from Tamil Nadu started settling in adjoining areas in the past 200 years. They also visited the home of one of the greatest Tamil littérateurs of all time, Mahakavi Subramanian Bharati at Hanuman Ghat.
Later, delegates were taken to Sarnath, one of the four main Buddhist pilgrimage destinations. They were delighted to visit Tathagat Ghat located in Sarai Mohana, situated near Sarnath and enjoyed the cultural show. They became aware of the history and heritage of the place where Lord Buddha had preached his first sermon.
