Hooch tragedy: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar 'explodes' over BJP's relief demand
In an outburst in the assembly, CM Nitish Kumar accused BJP of siding with consumers of liquor
PATNA: CM Nitish Kumar lost his cool in the legislative assembly on the second day of the winter session on Wednesday and exploded against the BJP MLAs for demanding compensation to the kin of the victims of hooch tragedy in Saran district.
At least 24 persons died after consuming suspected spurious liquor since Tuesday night. The BJP members had entered the well of the House, demanding also the resignation of the CM, holding him responsible for the hooch deaths as the six-year-old prohibition in the state had failed.
"Kya ho gaya. Sharabi ho gaye ho tum log.... Inko nikalo yahan se.... Bardasht nahi karenge (what has happened to you all. You have become liquor addict. Throw them out. ... will not be tolerated)," he said while pointing to the BJP members, who were displaying placards in the well of the House.
"You are lying. Ganda kam kar rahe ho (you are doing dirty work)," Nitish said.
