Delhi LG V K Saxena approves police proposal to appoint 2 special public prosecutors in Shraddha Walkar murder case
The gory details about Walkar's murder shook the entire nation last month.
NEW DELHI: The Shraddha Walkar murder case made much headway on Thursday with two important developments taking place.
Lt Governor V K Saxena has approved a proposal of the Delhi Police to appoint two special public prosecutors in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, PTI quoted Raj Niwas officials as saying on Thursday.

Hours ago, PTI quoted police sources as saying that that the DNA extracted from bone pieces recovered in the Mehrauli forest area — by the Delhi Police — in connection with the grisly murder case has matched with samples of her father, police sources said on Thursday.

The gory details about Walkar's murder shook the entire nation last month after the Delhi Police arrested her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala on November 12.
During interrogation, Poonawala confessed to killing Walkar and chopping her body into 35 pieces and disposing of them in various parts of the capital, police had said.
"LG V K Saxena has approved the proposal of the Delhi Police for appointment of Special Public Prosecutors to represent the State in the Trial Court in case FIR No. 659 dt. November 10, 2022 u/s 365/302/201 IPC, registered at PS Mehrauli.
"The matter relates to the gruesome Shraddha murder case. Madhukar Pandey and Amit Prasad, advocates, will accordingly represent the Delhi Police as special public prosecutors in the matter," an official told PTI.

Bones belong to Walkar
The police had recovered 13 bone pieces from the area while searching for Walkar's body parts. She was allegedly strangled and her body sawed into 35 pieces and disposed of in various parts of the national capital by her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala.
"The police have received the DNA report of the bones found. The DNA of the bones matches with the DNA samples of Walkar's father," a source told PTI.
The bone samples were sent for DNA analysis to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory.
The report of Poonawala's polygraph test was submitted to the police by the forensic sciences lab on Wednesday.
