Daily wager killed in attack in Ganjam dist
Berhampur: A 24-year-old man was killed and one of his friends sustained injuries when a group of people allegedly attacked them at Kaliaguda village under Gangapur police station limits in Ganjam on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Amar Rout, who was a daily wage labourer from Kaliaguda.
The injured person is undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here and his condition is stated to be serious.
Police said previous enmity between two groups in the village might be the motive behind the incident and ruled out any political motive. “Three persons have been detained, while the main accused is still at large. We have launched a search operation to nab him,” Bhanjanagar SDPO S S Mishra said.
Police seized a few empty liquor bottles from the spot. “The accused might have beaten up Rout after drinking liquor on the outskirts of the village. The deceased bore injury marks in his legs and hands,” the SDPO added.
