Parameshwara dares Bommai govt to implement internal reservation for SCs
Mysuru: KPCC manifesto committee chairman and former deputy chief minister G Parameshwara challenged the state government to implement the internal reservation among Schelduled Caste communities. “The Supreme Court struck down one such decision earlier. I will challenge the state government to implement it,” he said. Speaking to reporters here, he said any one from the Gandhi family i.e. Sonia, Priyanka or Rahul Gandhi will attend the Dalit Unity convention in January 8, that will be held in Chitradurga. “This government can’t implement the internal reservation. But we will definitely take up this challenge if we are voted to power,” he said.
He also alleged that the BJP is trying to mislead the SC and ST communities in the name of reservation.
“It was the Congress government which laid the foundation for increasing reservation for SC and ST communities. However, it has been implemented without the required legal framework and constitutional requirements. If the Congress is voted to power, we will implement it properly,” Parameshwara said. “The BJP leaders are claiming that this is a double-engine government. Let these two governments work together and implement this new reservation policy,” he added.
He also stated that the question of Dalit CM is irrelevant now. “The party will take a decision once the party comes to power. We are seeking political power from the SC and ST communities. Once the party comes to power, the high command will take a decision. Only Congress can make a Dalit as CM in Karnataka,” Parameshwara said.
He also alleged that under SCP/ STP budget, the Dalit communities have been cheated to the tune of around Rs.20,000 crores. “The central and state governments are cancelling the scholarships meant for the poor children from the socially weaker section of society. However, caste that has 3% population is not affected by the government decision,” he alleged.
He also stated that a SC/ST unity convention will be held on January 8 to discuss the challenges faced by the communities and expose the anti-Dalit policies of the state and central governments. “We requested the AICC to send any of the Gandhis,” he said.
KPCC working president R Dhruvanarayana said around 5 lakh people from all the 224 constituencies in the state will attend the Unity convention.
