Over dozen school students, a teacher injured after bus topples in Karnataka
In all, 50 students and a dozen staff were on board when the accident happened.
SHIVAMOGGA: Over a dozen students of a Mysuru school on an excursion were injured after the bus in which they were travelling toppled near Byakodu in Sagara taluk of Shivamogga district on Thursday.
The driver and a teacher were injured and treated at a hospital.
Their condition is said to be out of danger.
In all, 50 students and a dozen staff were on board when the accident happened.
The bus toppled onto a roadside after it passed a narrow bridge at Vokkodi village near Byakod, which is in Kargal police station limits at 9 am. Villagers rushed to their help and summoned 108 ambulance vehicles. Thirteen students, a teacher, and a driver were taken to a government hospital in Sagar, which is 20km away from the spot.
Police extended help to shift other students to the BCM hostel at Byakod. According to cops, the accident happened due to negligence on the part of the driver.
Shivamogga SP Mithun Kumar GK informed the media that the students injured were from the government high school Dharmapuri village in Hunsur of Mysuru district. All are safe and returning in a separate bus.
Speaking to TOI school headmaster Shivarudrappa said that they started their journey on Wednesday morning and had visited Horanadu, Kuppalli and Kolluru to reach Sigandur Chowdeshwari temple on Thursday morning. The bus toppled near Sagar but luckily all were safe and returned to the village in separate vehicles. Nothing to worry about as all are fine, the headmaster stated.
Mysuru DDPI Ramachandra Raje Urs 50 students and four teachers had left for the tour. All the students are safe. Scanning was done for a student result of which has come normal. These students are returning today only. As per the original schedule, they were supposed to return on Friday. But now they are returning early.
