VADODARA: A young man from Godhra landed in trouble for posting pro-Pakistan material as his WhatsApp status. The youth was arrested after the special operations group (SOG) of Panchmahal police came to know about it.
Sources said that Wasim Bhatuk, who is in his early 20s and lives in Satpul in Godhra, had shared videos favouring
Pakistan and writings of 'Pakistan Zindabad' on the status. While he did this during the T20 cricket world cup, the material came to the notice of the police recently following which an offence was registered at the B Division police station of Godhra town.
Bhatuk was booked under section 153 (A) of the Indian Penal Code for promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language or similar such grounds. He was also booked under section 67 (A) of the Information Technology Act for forwarding objectionable material.
Police inspector S F Sangada of the B Division police station said on Wednesday that Bhatuk was arrested after the offence was registered and would be presented in a court on Thursday. According to Sangada, Bhatuk said that he had received the material on his
Instagram and had shared it by mistake. Sangada added that earlier screenshots of the material shared in September were obtained by the police and the offence was registered. The same material was also found on the Instagram profile of the accused.
