HYDERABAD: A food delivery app executive was arrested by Tukaramgate police for indulging in ganja peddling. Cops seized 600 grams of contraband from his possession.
Acting on specific information, police intercepted Ch Nitish Chandra (20), a food delivery executive, from Neredmet at a hotel in Tukaramgate while he was trying to deliver ganja to customers.
Nitish confessed that he procured the contraband from Rahul of Jawahar Nagar to supply to customers while keeping the contraband in the bag provided by the food delivery company.
As per Rahul's instructions, Nitish has been supplying ganja to clients using code words like 'cheetah', 'kalakand' and 'sweet box'. As his ID was blocked due to technical problems, currently he has been using friend's ID, north zone DCP Chandana Deepthi said.
On December 11, he collected five ganja packets from Rahul and delivered two of them to consumers in Neredmet for Rs 5,000. While he was trying to approach the prospective customers in Tukaramgate, police arrested him on Wednesday.
During the initial probe, police identified 20 customers who have been in contact with Nitish and Rahul. The latter is absconding and Tukaramgate police launched a manhunt to nab him.
