COIMBATORE: The cybercrime division of the city police on Tuesday arrested two men for stealing 43.76 lakh using cloned credit cards. The accused were identified as Manogaran, 42, of Rathinapuri and Devaraj, 39, of Tatabad in the city.
Cybercrime inspector Arun said the duo stole credit card information from customers in countries like China and Poland in 2017, and created duplicate cards.
“They obtained point-of-sale (PoS) machines from banks after registering a shell company and swiped the duplicate cards to steal 43.76 lakh from two banks,” he said. Based on complaints from bank managers, two cases were registered in 2017.
