MUMBAI: Gamdevi police have booked a Bihar resident for allegedly making abusive, vulgar and threatening calls at the residence of NCP chief
Sharad Pawar. "We have registered an FIR on Monday and will bring the accused to Mumbai soon," said a police officer.
On December 2, the accused, identified as Narayan Soni, had allegedly made 25-30 calls on the landline number of Silver Oak, Pawar's residence on Bhulabhai Desai Road and insisted that he wanted to speak with him. The phone operator, Krishna Devulkar, who is from the police department, told investigators that the caller spoke in Hindi and insisted that the call be connected to Pawar. When Devulkar did not do so, he began issuing threats to him saying he would come to Mumbai and shoot him. The caller allegedly used abusive language against Pawar too.
Officials at Pawar's residence then informed the police. On December 9, police registered a non-cognisable offence against the caller after Devulkar lodged a complaint. On Monday, an FIR was registered and the accused was booked for criminal intimidation and using obscene words under the Indian Penal Code
