Man charged after allegedly taking pictures of people in tanning booth at Marysville Viking Fitness

A Port Huron Township man was charged with three felonies after allegedly taking photographs of multiple victims in a tanning booth at the Marysville Viking Fitness.
Corey Normandin, 32, was arraigned on Aug. 28 on capturing/distributing an image of an unclothed person, surveilling an unclothed person, using computers to commit a crime and a habitual offender enhancement, according to court records.
On Aug. 23, the Marysville Police Department received a complaint of a man taking photographs of a person in a tanning booth at the gym. Officers arrived on scene and quickly identified a suspect through witness statements and surveillance video, according to the Marysville Police Department.
A multi-jurisdictional major crimes task force was ued to help with the investigation, warrants and obtaining evidence.
On Aug. 25, a search warrant was executed on a home in Port Huron Township, where the suspect was taken into custody and evidence was obtained, police said.
Viking Fitness Manager Paul Germain said he immediately called police once a gym member brought the behavior to his attention and has been cooperating with police and prosecutors in the investigation since.
"I'm sorry for everyone that has been involved," Germain said.
Normandin was a member but not an employee of the gym, Germain said.
Facebook page Through My Eyes, managed by local social media figure Kevin Lindke, recently posted images and claims about Normandin and the incident.
"A recent social media post alluded to the use of a video camera hidden in the place of business. No camera was located and as a result of the investigation and search warrant, it was determined all images were captured from a cell phone," Marysville police said in a press release. "All identifiable victims have been notified and the investigation is ongoing."
Normandin is scheduled for a plea hearing at 1:20 p.m. Jan. 17 in front of St. Clair County Circuit Court Judge Cynthia Lane.
A call to Normandin's attorney was not immediately returned Tuesday afternoon.
