Hockey Olympian made DySP in Uttar Pradesh

LUCKNOW: Lalit Upadhyay, member of the Indian Hockey Team, was appointed as a deputy superintendent of police in the UP Police on Tuesday.
The appointment letter was handed over to him by chief minister Yogi Adityanath during the welcome ceremony for the trophy that will be handed over to the winner during the 15th Men's Hockey World Cup that will be held in Odisha in January 2023.
The CM said the state government is committed to the promotion of sports and sportspersons.
Upadhyay, who was honoured with the Arjuna Award in 2021, was born in Varanasi. He made his debut in 2014 and was part of the team that won the bronze medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He plays in forward position.
