JAIPUR: The Jaipur police on Tuesday detained a 20-year-old woman for her alleged involvement in firing at a youth in Karauli district.
SHO Ramnagariya police station Rajesh Kumar Sharma said that Rekha Meena, a resident of Karauli, was wanted by the Karauli police for her alleged involvement in firing at a youth.
The Karauli police had filed an FIR in the case in November and tracked her. The Jaipur police received information that Meena was living in the city.
Sharma said that Meena is notorious for using firearms and hence a team of as many as 10 armed cops were deployed to round her up.
The Jaipur police said that they will hand over her to the Karauli police. Meena for the past several days had been on the scanner of Rajasthan police for her social media posts that often draw many followers. The police said that as soon as FIR was filed in the Karauli and her name cropped up, she fled to Jaipur to find a safe place.
The Karauli police had conducted several raids to find her whereabouts in vain. The Jaipur police said that they had found a vital lead that Meena might be staying in Ramnagariya. “She was a fugitive. Her arrest was important for the investigation of the firing incident,” said an official.
