JDA frees land from squatters in Durgapura
Jaipur: Following a nexus between a section of Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) officials and land mafias came into light the enforcement department of the civic body carried out a drive the freed the land in question from the encroachers.
Officials alleged that in October 2022, a section of JDA officials conspired with the land mafia and handed over the lease of the land, measuring around 1 bigha, to the later. The land is located inside the park in Ayuwan Singh Nagar in Durgapura.
“In October the lease for this land was issued dividing the land into six plots. There were several discrepancies in the lease process. On the lease paper it was stated that JDA officials did not find the original deed of the land. But, despite this, the officials did not file a complaint with police to start an investigation – a mandatory norms to perform in such cases,” said a JDA official.
Soon after the lease was issued the new owners started construction on the land. The land inside a park and adjacent to the railway line originally belongs to Jaipur Municipal Corporation Greater and on October 9 2012 JMC Greater had floated a tender for construction of boundary walls for this park. Even the municipal corporation had installed gates of the park some 10 years ago. “As the construction started inside the park demarcated by JMC Greater we received an anonymous complaint. Following a complaint an investigation started and officials found several discrepancies in the allotment process. Finally, on Monday, JDA enforcement wing destroyed the constructions on the land and made it free from the encroachers,” said a JDA official.
