Gehlot yet to begin JJM work in half of hamlets: Shekhawat
Jaipur: Union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has accused chief minister Ashok Gehlot of not initiating the Union government’s most ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) programme in almost half of the 42,000 Raj villages derailing the project in the state. At a press conference held at the BJP headquarters on Tuesday, Shekhawat said that 125 districts have attained a 100% JJM success rate across the country but none are from Rajasthan, which is the most water scarce state.
“Not a single district and block of Rajasthan has attained 100% mark in providing tap connections. The growth of JJM in the country is more than 40%, it is only 20 here states how sluggish the Gehlot government is implementing this important scheme. The height of corruption is that they have not been able to spend the funds given by the Centre and are not ready to invest a share of the money,” said Shekhawat. JJM programme provides running water tap connections in every rural household.
Charging the Gehlot government for ignoring the central government schemes at the cost of the development of the state, he said during the period of former CM Vasundhara Raje, the state was always at the first, second and third position in implementing all the public welfare schemes of the Centre, but since the government changed in 2018, the central general welfare schemes were gradually derailed in the state. In many schemes, the state has ranked last.
The pace of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has not kicked off in three districts in Dausa, Jhunjhunu and Rajsamand.
