The NSE Nifty index ended the session 110.85 points up at 18608.0, while BSE Sensex rose 402.73 points to 62533.3.
In the Nifty index, .(up 2.34 per cent), .(up 1.75 per cent), .(up 1.61 per cent), .(up 1.58 per cent) and Mahindra & .(up 1.53 per cent) stood among the top gainers.
On the other hand, .(down 1.34 per cent), .(down 0.83 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 0.82 per cent), .(down 0.73 per cent) and .(down 0.48 per cent) were among the top losers of the day.
