Ludhiana: In three separate cases, city police arrested five persons with 5kg opium, 535g heroin and Rs 55,000 drug money.
In the first case, Sadar police arrested two men with 5kg opium. The accused were identified as Ramanpreet Singh, 25, and Prakash Singh, 57, of Panni Wala Fatta village in Muktsar.
Ludhiana police commissioner Mandeep Singh Sidhu said the police nabbed the duo at a checkpoint near Kheri chowk. The accused Ramanpreet was already facing trial in a scuffle case. Further probe is on to know the source of opium.
Sidhu said for this recovery, he has rewarded SHO Sadar police station inspector Gurpreet Singh with an appreciation certificate and cash. He said in two more cases, the police seized 535g heroin and Rs 55,000 drug money from three accused, identified as Baljit Singh of Mohalla Gobind Nagar, Shimlapuri; Rashpal Singh of Mohalla Gobind Nagar; and Kuljeet Singh of Kalgidhar Marg, Shimlapuri. tnn
