Hemant asks people to reap benefits of ‘Pashu Dhan Yojna’ for healthy lifestyle
Gumla: Chief minister Hemant Soren on Monday expressed deep anguish over Jharkhand’s dismal figure of malnourished children and anaemic women and blamed the poor health status of the residents on changes in food habits and lifestyles.
Addressing a large gathering during his “Khatiyani Johar Yatra here, Soren said, “The state’s figure of 45% malnourished children (bellow five years age) and 50% anaemic women has stunned me. I went deep through it to know the reason as villagers once upon a time lived up to 100 years in Jharkhand.”
He further said, “It dawned upon me that the poor health status of the villagers today is because of the lifestyle changes. In the past, every household use to rear cattle (cows and goats) and chicken for their consumption and sale.” The chief minister said to tackle these problems, and revert to the old lifestyle with better incomes, he initiated the Mukhya Mantri Pashu Dan Yojna with a high rate of subsidy so that the people could rear the animals and lead a healthy life.
Impressed by the huge turnout of people and the arrangements made by the district administration for the yatra, organised to connect with people through his government’s major decisions, including the domicile policy based on the 1932 land records (khatiyan), the chief minister explained why various laws and schemes were rolled out to mitigate various issues affecting the Adivasis and Moolvasis. “They were suffering for years as past BJP-led governments didn't do anything for them,” he claimed.
Soren also said, “For the first time, people got their own government as the previous one was of the 'exploiters' who never cared for the Adivasis and Moolvasis.”
He further said, “I have made several laws and schemes to strengthen the village economy as our government believes that if the root (villages) is strong, only then the tree (state) can be stronger.” The chief minister also asked the women to shun rice beer (hadia daroo) as it was a “shameful job” and suggested they reap the benefits of the government schemes.
Terming the people as the government’s voice, hands and legs, Soren asked them to disseminate what his government has been doing for the public after successfully fighting the pandemic and bringing back stranded workers.
